Lipo-Dissolve™
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Lipo-Dissolve™
A: Lipo-Dissolve™ is a series of injections into an area of adipose tissue (fat) that is resistant to diet and exercise. Injections are given once a month for three treatments into the same area.
Q: How does Lipo-Dissolve™ work?
A: Lipo-Dissolve™ is a pharmaceutical compound called phosphatidycholine deoxycholate or PCDC. It is administered into the adipose tissue through a series of micro injections using a tiny needle. The organs and muscles are not injected. Over time, fat cells expand, become inflamed and then harden. The hardened fat cells break down within a few weeks. The other ingredient in the injections begins to dissolve the fat into a milky-like substance. The lymphatic system picks up the milky-like substance, and transports it to the colon where it is eliminated from the body. Three treatments, spaced a month apart, complete the course.
Q: This all sounds painful. How painful is Lipo-Dissolve™ ?
A: Very small needles are used, and the discomfort during injection is minimal. We medicate you for the procedure because the swelling following the injections is uncomfortable. Swelling and burning sensations start within a couple of hours. Since you are already medicated the discomfort that accompanies the swelling and inflammation is minimal. Some localized bruising may occur.
Q: Is the Lipo-Dissolve™ treatment permanent?
A: After adolescence we do not develop any more fat cells. The ones we have will fill up or slim down depending on our diet and exercise habits. Lipo-Dissolve™ dissolves fat permanently in the area of treatment, leaving only a thin layer of cells. If we gain weight, the fat cells located in non-treated areas will get larger. It is, of course, always important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to avoid excessive weight gain.
Q: Is Lipo-Dissolve™ safe?
A: PCDC has been used in various medical procedures since the 1950's and in the 1990's for cosmetic purposes. The injections have been administered to thousands of people, both male and female, with no significant adverse reaction attributable to PCDC. Lipo-Dissolve™ is notFDA approved at this printing. We do require a copy of your latest blood work with details of the lipid panel. We will be looking at the level of triglycerides in your blood work results.
Q: What areas can be treated with Lipo-Dissolve™?
A: Tummy, thighs, upper arms, back fat, double chins and jowls, saddle bags and love handles. Post-liposuction unevenness can also be treated.
Q: Will I be left with baggy skin following the Lipo-Dissolve™ treatment?
A: No, the PCDC compound stimulates collagen production through an inflammatory response, which will help to retract the skin. The result will be nice, even skin. You may even lose some cellulite!
